Our commitment
2 Care Pharmacy is committed to meeting the accessibility needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner, in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its accompanying regulations. We aim to provide our goods, services, and information in a way that respects the dignity and independence of every person we serve.
In the pharmacy
Getting in the door
- Accessible entrance from the plaza parking lot — level path with no stairs.
- Free parking directly outside, including accessible spots.
- Wide aisles sized for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
- Service animals are welcome anywhere in the pharmacy.
At the counter
- Lower-counter consultation area available on request.
- Private consultation room for sensitive conversations or assisted device-use.
- Large-print prescription labels available on request, at no extra cost.
- Easy-open caps available on request, in place of child-resistant ones, for patients who have difficulty with them.
- Written communication — if speaking is difficult, we'll exchange notes, use a tablet, or whatever works best for you.
Communication
We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take their disability into account. If you let us know how you communicate best, we'll match it — that includes phone, text, email, in person, or via a support person you bring.
Support persons
You are welcome to bring a support person — a family member, friend, or paid caregiver — to any pharmacy visit. There is no extra cost. With your consent, we can share information about your medications with them.
On this website
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA, the standard set by AODA's Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation. What this looks like in practice:
- Keyboard navigation — every interactive element on the site can be reached and used with the keyboard alone.
- Screen-reader compatible — semantic HTML, alt text on photos, proper heading hierarchy, ARIA labels where needed.
- Sufficient colour contrast — text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios against backgrounds.
- Readable text — text resizes cleanly in your browser, no fixed-pixel layouts.
- No motion traps — we don't use auto-playing video, flashing content, or animations that can't be paused.
- Plain language — we write at a reading level our community can use, and define medical terms where they appear.
If something on this website is not working for you with assistive technology, we want to know. Contact us using the details below.
Requesting accommodations or alternative formats
If you need information from us — a prescription, a care summary, a receipt, anything we'd normally give you in standard print — in a different format such as large print, accessible PDF, plain text, or read aloud, please ask. We'll provide it free of charge and on a reasonable timeline.
The fastest way to request an accommodation is to call us at 905-201-1497. You can also email info@2carepharmacy.com with the subject "Accessibility request."
Feedback
We welcome feedback on how we're doing. If something didn't go well, or if you have ideas for how we can do better, please tell us:
- By phone: 905-201-1497
- By email: info@2carepharmacy.com
- In person: at the pharmacy, 3028 Bur Oak Avenue, Markham
You can give feedback anonymously if you prefer. We will acknowledge receipt within five business days and respond substantively as soon as practical.
Notice of service disruption
If a service that people with disabilities rely on (such as the accessible washroom, automatic door, or our delivery service) is temporarily unavailable, we will post a notice at the pharmacy and update this website. The notice will include the reason, anticipated duration, and any alternative services available.
Training
All staff at 2 Care Pharmacy receive training on accessible customer service, including how to interact with people with various disabilities and how to use assistive devices we make available in the pharmacy. Training is refreshed when policies change.
Updates to this statement
We update this statement when we change the way we provide accessible service. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
